The Industrial Technology Institute (ITI) has announced new job vacancies for qualified Sri Lankan citizens. The available positions are Senior Quality Assurance Officer – AR 2 and Senior Computer System Engineer – AR 2.
ITI is a statutory board functioning under the Ministry of Science and Technology. Furthermore, the institute is a multidisciplinary research organization that supports industrial development through research and development, consultancy, training and technical services.
Available ITI Job Vacancies 2026
There are two vacancies available under this recruitment. Therefore, candidates should carefully check the qualifications and experience requirements before applying.
1. Senior Quality Assurance Officer – AR 2
The Senior Quality Assurance Officer position requires candidates to have relevant qualifications in Science together with postgraduate or PhD qualifications and the required professional experience.
For example, applicants may qualify through a four-year BSc Special Degree with a first or second class together with a relevant postgraduate research degree and eight years of experience. In addition, the relevant experience must include experience in Quality Management Systems.
Other qualification pathways are also available. However, candidates must meet the specific educational and experience requirements stated in the official ITI advertisement.
Job Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be responsible for supporting and improving quality management activities at ITI.
In particular, the duties include:
- Developing and implementing ISO Quality Management Systems and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Maintaining quality manuals, sub-manuals and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Supporting internal technical audits.
- Conducting root-cause analysis of non-conformances.
- Assisting with method validation, uncertainty measurement and statistical analysis.
- Using the ITI ERP system and other ICT tools to improve productivity.
- Conducting seminars and participating in relevant training programmes.
- Providing quality-related training to ITI staff and others.
- Supporting laboratory quality assurance, testing and metrology activities.
- Assisting with department activities and resource management.
- Planning and organizing local and international proficiency testing schemes.
In addition, the selected officer may be assigned other duties by the Section Head or Director General.
2. Senior Computer System Engineer – AR 2
The second vacancy is for a Senior Computer System Engineer. Candidates should have relevant qualifications in Science, Engineering, Information Technology or Computer Science.
Depending on the qualification route, applicants may need a relevant postgraduate or PhD qualification. In addition, the advertisement requires relevant professional experience after the first degree.
Job Responsibilities
The Senior Computer System Engineer will be responsible for maintaining and improving IT systems at ITI.
The main duties include:
- Maintaining and extending the ITI computer network.
- Managing the network security system.
- Administering the institute ERP system.
- Coordinating with relevant service providers.
- Providing ICT support to different sections of the institute.
- Developing ICT solutions for institute projects.
- Conducting ICT training and awareness programmes.
- Participating in relevant seminars and training sessions.
- Continually upgrading the computer network and security system.
- Improving the ERP system and other strategic management tools.
Furthermore, the selected candidate may be assigned additional duties by the Section Head, Additional Director or Director General.
Age Limit
Applicants should be between 30 and 55 years of age.
However, the upper age limit does not apply to employees of Government Departments and Corporations.
Salary
The two positions are offered under the AR 2 salary scale.
Salary Scale: Rs. 133,220 – 10 × Rs. 3,600 – Rs. 169,220/-
Effective Date: 01 January 2027
Initial Salary Step: Rs. 116,763/- + Government-approved allowances
Therefore, eligible candidates can expect the applicable government-approved allowances in addition to the initial salary.

In particular, employees contribute 10% of their gross salary to the ITI Provident Fund, while the Institute contributes 15%. Additionally, the employer contributes 3% to the Employees’ Trust Fund.

Applicants should also provide the names and addresses of two unrelated referees.
Furthermore, candidates currently employed in Government Departments, State Corporations or Statutory Boards should submit their applications through the respective heads of their establishments. An advance copy may also be sent directly to ITI.
